Confessions

Madonna

I confess... Madonna is my absolute, number one favorite musical artist of all time. Her music has been a part of my life since before I can remember. When I was a kid, my mother forbade me from watching anything Madonna on TV, but I decided that her decision was the wrong one so I tuned in weekly in the early 90s to watch Madonnathon on MTV. This woman is my idol. I admire most her longevity, attitude, and dedication to her art.

You wouldn't let me say the words I longed to say
You didn't want to see life through my eyes
[Express yourself, don't repress yourself]
You tried to shove me back inside your narrow room
And silence me with bitterness and lies

"LOST"

I confess... "LOST" is the best television show that I've ever seen. I love every aspect of this show from its first episode to its last (and every episode in between). To me, this show is perfect in every way and did not go wrong. I love the writers' attention to detail and continuity. I love the journey that each character experienced up to the series finale. I love every single canon relationship pairing. I love Michael Giacchino's score, and listen to it more than most other playlists on my iPod. "LOST" wasn't just a television show, it was an experience. "LOST" was part of my cure for PTXFD* and for that I am forever thankful. I've said enough, I need to get back to my current "LOST" rewatch.

Mulder/Scully

I confess... I am a UST 'shipper for the Mulder/Scully relationship on "The X-Files". For me the appeal of a Mulder/Scully relationship was when the idea of them never ending up together as a couple/romantically was a likely ending to their story. I love Mulder and Scully best as friends and FBI partners, but just loved even more when they were just friends and partners with sizzling sexual tension. Every single time that I put in a Mulder/Scully episode of this show, I long for the days when they were not involved romantically. I miss those days so much.

"It sounds cliche to say that they're best friends,
but they're best friends beyond what lovers could ever be."

- Sheila Larkin (1998)

The X-Files

I confess... I have a "love-hate" relationship with "The X-Files" series. It is only when I interact with (the rabid) fans of the series that the "hate" part of "love-hate" rears its ugly face. The negativity in most of the fandom towards other fans (with different opinions than their own) pushes me towards not finding any enjoyment from watching the show. This is because I end up associating fandom assholes with the series itself. That's unfair, but that's how it is. The "love" part of "love-hate" skips into my life when I distance myself from the ugly part of the fandom and discuss the show with other fans who are more open-minded and accepting of others regardless of whether or not our opinions mesh. X-Philes 4 Equality - In the hope that one day all Philes can get along.

* PTXFD = Post-Traumatic X-Files Disorder: After "The X-Files" series ended you came to fear and mistrust TPTB of other TV shows that you watched, fully expecting other TV show writers to spew out poorly planned episodes and plots. PTXFD can also be used to describe a person who doesn't trust other fandoms and fans due to the disrespectful and often hateful treatment that some fans of "The X-Files" hand out to other fans of "The X-Files" for sharing thoughts and opinions different from that of the majority of the X-Files fandom. PTXFD can be treated if the person suffering from its effects can remove themselves from negative persons in the X-Files fandom, and by finding another fandom that is more friendly and fun to take part in.
