Summary: Brad thinks about why he suspected Monica of attempted murder 
of John Doggett.

Author's Note: I don't like using character last names when I write. 
This is a response to the Awareness Month 2011 FRR 4-D Drabble 
Challenge at Serenity of X (details of the challenge are provided after 
the end of the story).

Why was I one of the first to suspect Monica of shooting her partner? 
Monica and I were lovers in New York, we shared intimate details of our 
lives together, I watched her tear herself apart trying to help John 
Doggett find his son's killer. Never in a million years would I think 
she would attempt murder on him. But then why was I the first to 
suspect her of this very act?

Sure, rounds were fired from Monica's gun, FBI issued, which is why I 
got the call that Agent Doggett was down. I'm now the Assistant 
Director in charge of OPR - the Office of Professional Responsibility. 
It is my job to investigate questionable actions by special agents of 
the FBI. The evidence against her is not solid; the fact that the 
bullet came from her gun is the only reason this case is still alive. 
She would never do this, could never do this, so why do I suspect her 
without a doubt?

Because our relationship has fizzled away since our first meeting in 
Washington. It could have happened then, but for some reason, it has 
not. If she were guilty of murder it would be easier to stop loving 
her, wanting her, and needing her.

The again, even with charges against her, and she locked away behind 
bars, I could never stop loving her.
