Title: Caught Author: Dana Doggett Feedback: danadoggett@yahoo.com Date: August 14, 2006 Rating: R - language Category: Mulder POV, implied Doggett/Scully, drabble Disclaimer: In my hands these characters really aren't the characters that surfer created, they're better than that, they like to explore more extreme possibilities. Beta: Alexa Summary: Mulder goes to Doggett's to review a casefile and discovers something else. ----- The lights aren't on at Doggett's when I arrive. He said he'd be home to meet me about the case. I park my car on the street in front of his home. He could be watching TV in the dark. I ascend the steps to his porch. The blinds on his windows aren't shut. I see movement and it's not from the lights of the television. I see a woman's silhouette, a nude woman's silhouette. I crack a smile despite myself. Doggett's banging some chick on his living room couch. I'm about to walk away to come back later until I hear a sound I know all too well. The sound of Dana Scully moaning. The moan she makes moments before orgasm. What's she doing with John Doggett? Fuck that. I know what they're doing. Only months ago I was doing to her what he's doing to her now. I knock loudly on the door. That better stop them. A light turns on in the foyer a minute later and John Doggett looks out the window next to his front door. He sees me. His face says it all. He didn't mean for me to find out Scully's there. He opens the door, Scully's at his side. She's wearing what could only be Doggett's white dress shirt, the one he wore to work today. Her hair is a mess. "Agent Mulder, I forgot you were stoppin' by." Doggett rubs the back of his neck nervously. I look at Scully, the expression on my face demands an answer. Doggett notices our exchange and looks from me to Scully and back again. Scully clears her throat and looks me in the eye. "Because I love him, Mulder. If you had listened to me months ago when I tried to tell you this wouldn't have come as such a shock." Her voice is harsh. She knows I do not like seeing her with Doggett. Scully walks back into Doggett's house without another word. Doggett looks at me sympathetically. He's a good guy and he wants to say something, but even I don't know what he could say to make this moment easier to handle. So I speak up. "We'll go over that casefile tomorrow morning, Agent Doggett." I pause and decide to say my next sentence snidely. "Have a nice night." I turn and walk down the porch steps. I'll talk to Scully about this later when he's not around, make her see reason that she's making a mistake and that she still loves me. "Fox." Doggett calls out to me. What nerve using my first name. I stop and turn to look at him. "I'm sorry." I'm not sure what he has to be sorry about, he's got Scully. He's the luckiest man on the planet. He just feels badly for being caught. I walk back to my car and leave without a word. END ---------------------------------------- If you enjoyed this story I would love to hear from you.
