Title: Bad Mix Author: Dana Doggett Feedback: danadoggett@yahoo.com Date: August 2, 2006 Rating: PG-13 (use of the "F" word) Category: Doggett POV, drabble Word Count: 116 Timeline: soon after Luke's death, 1993 Disclaimer: In my hands these characters really aren't the characters that surfer created, they're better than that, they like to explore more extreme possibilities. Beta: Alexa Summary: Musings of John Doggett soon after the death of his son in 1993. Dedication: To smackalalala, this drabble is for you. ----- There it sits in all its fucking glory - the empty glass. Barbara's going to be pissed, but I don't care. This is how I'm dealing with it. The alcohol numbs the pain. Luke is gone. There's nothing either of us can do about it. She longs for comfort. I long for alcohol. I long for my own pathetic life to end. I blame myself. My revolver sits next to me. I can already smell the gunpowder. I empty all rounds but one. Locked and loaded, one bullet. I spin the cylinder. The muzzle is cold against my temple. I pull the trigger. Nothing. Monica would say this is a sign that there's something worth living for.
